To provide practical support for grandparents and primary caregivers,
responsible for children orphaned through AIDS, thus ensuring a
secure and familiar environment for the children and family continuity
for the grandparents.

To provide an income for the grandmothers and primary caregivers
by encouraging participation in income-generating activities, especially
the traditional skill of bead work, mainly AIDS pins.
3.
To ensure the children and youth are aware of the complexities of
the HIV/AIDS situation by providing life-skills training.
4.
To encourage and guide supportive peer activities.
5.
To support the formal education of the children and provide opportunities
for vocational guidance and training.
6.
To raise international awareness of the social and economic needs
of these children by encouraging supportive and informed global
links.
The
Project is based in two townships in Zululand, S. Africa and supports
nearly 300 children and their carers. The pins are sold all over
the world and currently have reached 16,000+. |
